Hold inhaler upright, remove cap, check for dust, lint etc
Shake the inhaler and prime it if it is new or has not been used for a long period of time
Sit up straight or stand up and breathe out completely
Closed mouth technique: position inhaler so lips are tightly sealed around the mouthpiece (past teeth and over tongue)
Open Mouth Technique: Position inhaler mouthpiece about 1.5 to 2 inches away from open mouth. Do not place lips around the mouthpiece
Actuate the inhaler while taking a slow, deep breath in through the mouth
hold breath for approximately 10 seconds or as long as is comfortable and then breath out slowly
If multiple puffs wait 1-2 minutes and repeat 3-6
