DPI/Diskus

QuestionAnswer
Open the diskus to expose the mouthpiece
Hold the diskus in a level, horizontal position. Do not tip the diskus - you may lose medication
Slide the lever away from you as far as it will go until you hear a click
Exhale completely. NEVER BREATH OUT into the diskus
Place lips around the mouthpiece and inhale QUICKLY and DEEPLY 2 points
Remove diskus from mouth and hold breath for approximately 10 seconds, and then breathe out slowly, away from the diskus
Close the diskus so that the mouthpiece is covered. If using an inhaled corticosteroid, rinse mouth out with water or brush teeth and tongue after use
Review how to check how many doses are left, when it is time to be refilled 2 points
