PHM316 Peak Flow

QuestionAnswer
Set the peak flow scale to zero
Stand up Straight This should never be done sitting as long as the patient is able to stand
Breathe in as much as you can
Place the mouthpiece in your mouth with lips sealed around it do not block the vents with your tongue
Breathe out as hard and fast as you can, exhaling as much air as possible in 1 second 2 points!
Repeat steps 1-5 twice more and record the highest of the 3 readings Or record all readings and circle the highest
Explain the concept of a personal best reading
Explain how to correlate readings with zones/action plan (% readings for red, yellow, green)
