Design Process Terms

QuestionAnswer
design process A systematic method used to solve problems to come up with the best solution
criteria desired features of a product; what must be included in a solution
constraints factors that limit a design or product, such as size, time, money or materials
brainstorming a method of problem solving in which several people discuss and share ideas
model a 2D or 3D representation of a design, usually smaller than normal
prototype a full-scale working model of a design
evaluate to assess the effectiveness and value of a design
design brief a written one-page analysis of a problem
aesthetics the study of visual appeal and how to make things look pleasing in appearance
ergonomics the study of how people interact with objects and the environment for increased safety and efficiency
