QuestionAnswer
Name a difference between a substance and a mixture. A substance has an unchangeable chemical formula, mixtures have different amounts of various materials.
What is a colloid? A colloid is a mixture with medium sized particles that do not settle when left out.
What is a suspension? A mixture with large particles that settle when left out.
What is the Tindle Effect? When a light shines through a colloid and the beam of light is visible.
How can you prove that a liquid is a colloid? Shine a flashlight through the check for the Tindle Effect.
What is Kinetic Theory? Particles move around in substances and get faster when heated and slower when cooled.
What is a physical change? A change that does not change the substance.
How does the Kinetic Theory affect solubility? Particles move faster, causing for easier disolving.
