Forms of Medication

| Instillation | Instilling fluid into a body cavity |

| Transdermal disk (Patch) | The disk secures the medication ointment to the skin |

| Oral | Medications are given by mouth and swallowed with fluid |
| Intradermal (ID) | Injection into the dermis just under the epidermis |
| Subcutaneous (Sub-Q) | Injection into the tissues just below the dermis on the skin |
| Sublingual | Medication is placed under the tongue to dissolve and are readily absorbed |
| Buccal | Placing the solid medication in the mouth and against the mucous membranes of the cheek until the medicine dissolves |
| Parenternal | Involves injecting a medicine into the body tissues. |
| Inhalations | Medications is administered through the nasal passages , oral passages, or endotracheal tubes. |
