| axial skeleton | forms the main trunk of the body and is composed of the skull, spinal column,rib and breastbone |
| appendicular skeleton | forms the extemities and is composed of the shoulder gir-dle, arm bones, pelvic girdle, and leg bone |
| Foramina | are openings in bones that allow nerves and blood vessels to enter or leave the bone. |
| Joints | are areas where two or more bones join together. |
| ligments | help hold long bones together at joints. |
| sinuses | are air spaces in the bones of the bones of the skull that act as resonating chambers for the voice. |
| Red Marroows | is found in certain bones such as the vertebrea, ribs, sternum,and cranium, and in the proximal ends of the humers and femur. |
| fontanels | or soft spot allow for the enlargemnet of the skull as brain growth occurs |
| Sutures | are areas where the cranial bones join together |
