Term/DiseaseDefinition
amenorrhea absence of menstrual period in women of reproductive age
dysmenorrhea AKA cramps; menstruation accompanied by pain.
virilization biological development of male characteristics controlled primarily by androgens
androgens compounds that stimulate or maintain male characteristic developments
endometrium the inner membrane of the uterus
oligospermia symptom of having less than 20 million sperm cells per mL per ejaculate in men
hirsutism excessive hair growth in women in places men usually get hair (i.e., moustache)
adipose tissue loose connective tissue that stores fat
polyuria symptom of frequent urinating
polydipsia symptom when patient ingests large amounts of liquid orally
polyphagia symptom when patient is excessively hungry and eats large amounds of solid food
glucosuria a rare condition in which the simple sugar glucose is eliminated in the urine despite normal or low blood glucose levels.
hyperglycemia high blood sugar; an excessive amount of glucose circulates in the blood plasma
neuropathy a general term referring to disorders of nerves
suspension a mixture of solids and liquids in which the solid remains mostly intact; these mixtures can settle after a period of time
