Define ethics. Term applied to the science of duty and right conduct toward others.
What is the ASRT Code of Ethics? Rules of conduct that guides the radiographer.
Define handwashing. The easiest and most convenient method for preventing spread of germs.
What are some causes of involuntary motion? Peristalis, muscle spasms, chills, pain.
What are some causes of voluntary motion? Nervousness, fear, discomfort, age.
How should voluntary motion be controlled? By giving clear instructions, providing patient comfort, and correctly supplying/adjusting support.
What 4 things identify an x-ray? Patient's name, date, side marker and institutional identity.
How should the patient be dressed? In a gown that allows exposure of limited body regions under examination.
Who should remove objects belonging to patient? The patient, a nurse or a CNA.
What should the technologist do if the patient asks what the diagnosis is? Tactfully advise the patient that the physician will receive the report.
Name 3 instances where gonadal shielding should be considererd. If within proximity of x-ray field; the clinical objective is not compromised; and if there's reasonable reproductive potential.
