Introducing Psychology

| Positive Psychology | Focus on what goes right, on the things that make life most worth living. |
| Biological Psychologists | (physiological) study how biological processes in the brain effect mental processes and behavior. |
| Cognitive Psychologists | (experimental) Study mental abilities such as sensation and perception, learning and memory, thinking, consciousness, intelligence, and creativity. |
| Engineering Psychology | (human factors) create things(electronics) for humans that are easy to use and less likely to cause errors. |
| Developmental Psychology | Describe the changes in behavior and mental processes that occur from birth to old age, and try to understand the causes and effects of those changes. |
| Personality Psychology | Study individuality, the unique features that characterize each of us. |
| Clinical & Counseling Psychologists | Conduct research on the causes and treatment of mental disorders and offer services to help troubled people overcome those disorders. |
| Community Psychologists | Ensure that psychological services reach the homeless and those who need help but tend not to seek it. |
| Health Psychology | Relationship between risky behaviors (smoking, etc.) and the likelihood of suffering heart disease, stroke, cancer or other health problems. |
| Educational Psychologists | Conduct research and develop theories about learning and teaching. |
| School Psychologists | Diagnose learning disabilities and other academic problems, and set up programs to improve students achievement and satisfaction in school. |
| Social Psychologists | Study the ways that people think about themselves and others, how people influence one another. |
| Industrial and Organizational Psychology | Research, leadership, conduct, pay scales, stress, and other factors that effect efficiency, and productivity of people in the work place. |
| Quantitative Psychology | Develop and use statistical tools to analyze vast amounts of data collected by their colleagues, in all subfields. |
| Sport Psychologists | Help athletes reduce anxiety, focus attention and make other changes to help them perform at their best. |
| Forensic Psychologists | Assist in jury selections, evaluate defendants' mental competence to stand trial and deal with other issues involving psychology and the law. |
| Environmental Psychologists | Study the effects of the environment on people's behavior and mental processes. |
| Evolutionary Approach | Behavior and mental processes of animals and humans today are a result of evolution through natural selection. |
| Psychodynamic Approach | Different slant on the roles of inherited instincts and other biological forces in human behavior. |
