CR Physical Science week 2

QuestionAnswer
observation the use of your senses to notice your environment
bias An unfair opinion or influence in favor of or against someone or something
conclusion a statement that tells the outcome of an investigation; the data has been interpreted and studied in relation to a hypothesis
control the part of the experiment in which conditions are kept constan
dependent variable in a controlled experiment, the measurable condition that results from changing the independent variable
hypothesis an idea not proven but assumed to be true for purposes of further study or investigation
qualitative to describe the properties of something without using numbers (color, shape, smell, taste, texture, opinion)
quantitative capable of being measured or expressed as a numerical amount
scientific notation uses the powers of ten to express very large or very small numbers as decimal numbers
theory An explanation of a scientific idea that has been tested and accepted.
variable A factor that can affect the outcome of an experiment
