What is Rehearsal? Automatic process it how information from short term gets to long term
Serial Positioning effect Remembering the first and last items in a list but forgetting/not remembering as well the middle.
Next-in-line effect Not knowing what the people in line before you said because you are focused on what you are going to say
Info learned right before bed what happens to it? We cant remember it because there is not enough time to encode it
Spacing Effect Studying/learning things in steps....ex: I studies 1.1 Monday 1.2 Tuesday ,1.3 Wednesday and the test was Thursday.
Semantic Encoding Having a meaning or personal connection to what you are learning... Ex: My locker combo 17-10-5 i remember because I'm 17 born in the 10th month and have 5 sisters
Acoustic Encoding Remembering something based on what you heard... ex: I know that movie because i remembered the way he screamed
Visual Encoding Learning something by seeing a picture or putting words to a picture
Mnemonic Memory device that helps us remember things ex: PEMDAS or ROY G BIV
Method of Loci seeing a place help trigger a memory...ex: in class during a test you can see the board and remember what the teacher wrote
Peg-Word Jingle to remember something..ex: abc's or state farm commercial
Acronym Shorting words that make it easy to remember ...ex:PIPIQuACI
Chucking Recall more information when its in units like a phone number instead of 10 random digits
