Therapeutic communicaiton words defined

TermMeaning
Speaks with well-thought-out ideas regarding the role of the patient in the healing process
Is fully present Is totally focused on the patient and his ideas about the problem.
Listens with the whole self, with the third ear in order to ascertain the patient's meanings and goals
Develops trust resists trying to influence the patient; instead, asks questions only to ascertain the truth about the problem as the patient preceives it.
Listen clarify, ask, never assume or make quick judgments
Identify problems with the patient, evaluate
Hypothesize causes (make educational guess)
Treat through theraputic measures and education
