decomposition reaction a reaction in which a compound breaks down into two or more simple substances
single-replacement reaction a reaction in which one element replace another in a compound
double-replacement reaction a reaction in which the element in two compounds are exchanged
precipitate a solid that is formed and usually sinks to the bottom of a solution
