computer a machine that can be programed. invented in the 1940s

program it is another word for software. a list of instuction

bios wakes up the computer
motherboard holds it all together
cpu central processing unit that works as the brain of the computer

power supply gives electricity to the computer
modem connect computers to each other
port hardware plugs into it; like keyboard, mouse
video card allows graphics to be displayed to be displayed on the monitor
power plug used to supply power to the computer and provide power out the the monitor
parallel Port electrical connecter that is used to send information to the printer
serial port used to connect older or specilized devices
network interface card an ethernet cable connection
universal serial bus is an external bus that transfers mbps
