What is the Cognitive Perspective? has to do with the relation of mental process/ thinking with human behavior. Investigate ways in which we perceive and mentally represent the world.
What is the Human Existential Perspective? Also examines mental processes to define human behavior, but is more focused on personal experience. Humanism stresses human capacity for self fulfillment, while existentialism views people as free to choose . Abraham Maslow & Carl Rogers popularized
What is the Psychodynamic Perspective Believes behavior is motivated by inner unconscious forces over which a person has little control.
What is Behaviorism? People behave according to past learning history, situations and rewards, not conscious choice. Mostly environmentally influenced, behavior is learned through repetition and reinforcement.
What is Social-cognitive theory? suggests people can modify and create their own environments, stresses influence of experiences and observation of others.
What is the Sociocultural Perspective? Studies influence of ethnicity, gender, culture and socioeconomic status on behavior and mental processes. Helps to understand role of culture in behavior, attitudes, belief and values
What is the Psychoanalytic Perspective? Says that personality is characterized by conflict. At first conflict is external; drives like sex aggression and the need for superiority
