Personality Theories

QuestionAnswer
What are some different approaches to personality theories? Trait theory, psychoanalytic theory, learning theory, humanistic theory, and sociocultural theory.
How would you summarize Trait Theory? based on how the person behaves.
According to Hippocrates, where do traits come from? He suggested that traits are a result of different combinations of bodily fluids, called humors. (yellow bile-quick temper, blood-warm, cheerful, temperment, black bile-melancholy tempermant, phlem-sluggish and cool temperment.
What is Gordon Allport's view of Trait Theory? He assumed that traits can be inherited and that they are fixed in the nervous system.
What is Hans Eysenck's view of Trait Theory? He was focused on the relationships between two personality dimensions: introversion-extroversion and emotional stability-instability.
