Crest The "high point" of a transverse wave
Trough The "low point" of a transverse wave
Rarefaction The less dense "spread-apart" region of a compressional wave
Wavelength The length of a single wave, measured from one point of a wave to the next repeated identical point
Frequency The number of waves that pass a fixed point each second
Period The time it takes for one complete wave to pass a fixed point
Amplitude How high a crest is from the rest position in a transverse wave or how tight the compression in a compressional wave
