This stack uses the social sciences book and contains words from Unit 3, 1 & 7.

WordDefinition
psychology The study of how the mind and body work together.
psychologist A person who studies the behaviors of human beings and the way the human mind works.
behavioral science Systematic study of human behavior.
observation Watching human behavior and writing down what is seen.
analysis The breaking up of an even, or fact into smaller pieces in order to study it more closely.
social psychologist A social scientist who studies how individuals behave in a group.
developmental psychologist A social scientis who studies the many changes we go through as we grow.
experimental psychologist A social scientist who studies the behavior of animals in laboratory settings.
classical conditioning the pairing of a neutral stimulus with an unconditioned stimulus in such a way that they become indentified in a subjects mind and produce the same response.
stimulus In conditioning, something that causes a response.
response In conditionin, an action caused by a stimulus.
operant conditioning the process of training a subject to perform a certain action by rewarding the subject when it performs the correct response.
shaping A psychological technique used in training animals.
positive reinforcement A reward given by the experimenter to the subject in operant conditioning after the subject performs an action desired by the experimenter.
negative reinforcement A punishment given by the experimenter to the subject in operant conditioning after the subject performs an action that the experimenter does not desire.
trial - and - error learning a method of learning by trying different ways of solving a problem until one works.
