QuestionAnswer
What is DNA? A chemical that contains information for an organism's growth and functions.
What are chromosomes? A structure that has DNA compacted into it.
What is interphase? The part of the cell cycle during which a cell is not dividing.
What is the definition for Mitosis? The part of the cell cycle during which the nuvleus divides.
What is Cytokinesis? The division of the parent cell's cytoplasm.
What is asexual reproduction? This is when one organism produces one or more new organisms that have the same genetic material.
What is the Cell Cycle? It is the normal sequence of development and division of a cell.
What is Metaphase? The second stage of cell division where chromosomes become attached to the spindle fibers.
What is Anaphase? The stage of cell division in which the chromosomes move away from each other to opposite sides of the spindle fiber.
What is Prophase? The stage of cell division in which the nucleus prepares for cell division.
What are Chromatids? The two threadlike strands that a chromosome divides longitudianlly into during cell division.
What is a Double Helix? A pair of parallel helixes intertwined with a common axis that are in the structure of the DNA molecule.
Define Binary Fission. The form of asexual reproduction and cell division used by all prokaryotes, some protozoa, and some organelles within ukaryotic organisms.
