Lindsey's vocab words for Chapter 13

Chemical bonding the joining of atoms to form new substances
Chemical bond an interaction that holds two atoms together
valence electron the electrons in the outermost energy level
Ionic bond a bond that forms when atoms are transferred from one atom to another
Ions charged particles that form when atoms gain or lose electrons
Crystal Lattice repeating three-dimensional pattern when ions bond
Covalent bond forms when atoms share one or more pairs of electrons
Molecule usually consists of two or more atoms joined in a definate ratio
Metallic bond bond formed by the attraction between positively charged metal ions and the electrons in the metal
