Macrolides anti

Macrolides may be? bacteriostatic or bacterialcidal depending on the concentration in the infected tissue.
macrolides they are? effective against gram positive bacteria.
macrolides MOA is inhibits or kills bacteria by interfering with RNA protein synthesis within the bacteria. they act against multiplying bacteria.
Macrolides are used to treat penicillin allergy such as prophylaxis against rheumatic fever, syphilis, gonorrhea,chlamydia conjunctivitis( newborn)
side effects of macrolides are GI discomfort- nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, phlebitis at the iv infusion- erythromycin , hepatotoxicity- nausea, abdominal pain, cramps, fever and allergic reactions.
Macrolides Monitor for pt with renal disease, increased digitalis levels if pt is on digoxin, Pt INR( increased effects of anticoagulants) codamin INR 2.0-3.0 therapeutic level
