Epinephrine hormone from arenal medulla that stimulates adrenergic receptors, expecially during stress
Adrenergic blocker referes to drugs that block or lower sns
adrenergic drug referes to drugs that produce effects similar to stimulating the sns
cholinergic referes to drugs that mimic stimulation of the pns (calm and cool) and stimulate it
anticholinergic referes to drugs that decrease the activity of the pns
parasympathetic referes to nerves of the ANS that originate in the brain and sacral portion of the spinal chord; they are active when the body is at rest or trying to restore body energy and function
sympatheic referes to nerves of the ANS that originate from the thoracolumbar portion of the spinal chord; they are active when the body is under stress or when its exerting energy
Sympatholytic "blocking" drug or effect that decreases sypmpathetic nervous system activity
Sympathomimetic adrenergic drug or effect that increases syspathetic NS activity
Parasympatholytic refers to drugs (anticholinergic) that decrease the activity of the PNS
parasympathomimetic referes to drugs (cholinergic) that mimic stimulation of the PNS
