Period Horizontal rows in the periodic table whose properties change gradually and predictivly
Atomic number Number of protons in the nucleus of each atom; the top number in the periodic table.
Atomic mass Total mass of protons and neutrons in an atom ; it's unit of measure is the atomic mass unit (u)
Electron Negitivily charged particle that exists in an electron cloud formation around an atom's nucleus.
Electron cloud Region surrounding the nucleus of atom, where electrons are most likely to be found
Group Family of elements in the periodic table that have similar physical or chemical properties
Isotope Two or more atoms of the same element that have different number of neutrons in their nuclei
Mass number Sum of the number of protrons and neutrons in the nucleus of an atom
Metal Element that has luster, is metalable and is a good conductor of heat and electricity
Metalloid Shares properties of metals and non metals
