Boiling Point The temperature at which a liquid is converted to vapor below it's surface
Characteristic Property The fixed and unchanging property or properties of any substance
Chemical Activity Property which allows substances to experience a chemical change
Chemical Bond Force responsible for holding together two atoms
Chemical Change The combination or decay of one substance, or more than one substance, to yield a new substance
Compound Pure substance made by the chemical combination of at least 2 different elements
Density The quantity of mass contained in an unit volume
Electrode A terminal on an electrochemical cell where electrons are either gained or lost
Electrolysis Process of producing chemical changes involving the breaking of chemical bonds by passing an electric current through the body of solutions
Element A substance which cannot be further divided into smaller units by using chemical means
International System of Units (SI) A uniform standard for measuring properties of matter
Mass A measure of the amount of matter contained in an object
Melting Point The temperature at which a solid is converted to liquid
Mixture Substance formed by the mixing together of at least two substances which are not chemically joined
Molecule Single unit formed by joining together two or more atoms
Ore A rock containing valuable materials
Physical Change An alteration in the appearance, but not the composition, of a substance
Pure Substance Material made from one type of matter
Volume The space occupied by matter
Weight The force with which an object is attracted by the Earth's gravity
