William James wrote The Principles of Psychology and discussed functionalism.
William Wundt created the first psychological laboratory and created the concept of introspection and structionalism.
Max Wertheimer led gestalt psychology. focused not on how we feel, but how we experience the world.
Gestalt psychology the whole of the experience can be more than the sum of its parts.
Sigmund Freud started psychoanalysis.
Psychoanalysis most of our feelings come from our unconciousness.
biopsychology aka neuroscience. all feelings and behaviors have organic root. (something in your bain is causing the way you are thinking or feeling.)
evolutionary perspective focuses on darwinism. we behave the way we do, because we inherited those behaviors from our ancestors. the behaviors must have helped our ancestors survive.
ppsychoanalysis perspective focus on the unconcious mind. we repress our true feelings, and are not aware of them.
behavioral perspective focuses on observable behaviors, feelings aside. we behave in certain ways because we have been conditioned to do so. correction would take reconditioning.
Humanist perspective
cognitive perspective focuses on how we think
social-cultural perspective says that much of your behavior and feelings are dictated by the culture you live in.
nature vs nurture being born with knowledge vs sculpting our knowledge based on experience.
biological psychology explore the links between the brain and the mind.
developmental psychology studing changes from womb to tomb.
cognitive psychology study how we recieve, think, and solve problems.
personality psychology investigate our traits.
social psychology explore how we view and affect one another.
clinical psychologiist studies assesses and treats people with psychological disorders.
couseling psychologist helps people cope with academic, vacational, and marital challenges.
educational psychologist studies and helps individuals in school and educational settings.
