Absorption time it takes for a drug to work after being administered; Rate at which the drug passes to the bloodstream

Adverse Reaction Unwanted/ unexpected side effect/reaction to a medication
Allergy Sensitivity of immune system to a chemical or drug; symptoms from rashes, to more severe like irregular breathing
Antibody Protein produced by immune system to respond to foreign substances in the body
Chronic Disease or illness that has a long duration
Clinical Trials Scientific experiments testing drug effects on human patients; required by FDA
Contraindication an aspect of a patients condition that doesnt agree with treatment
Diagnosis Process where a healthcare proffesional determines the patients condition/disease
Distribution process following absorption where a drug is passed to the cells of various organs
Electrolytes Salts that the body requires in its fluid that are essential in nerve, muscle and heart functions
Excretion Process where the body eliminates waste after metabolism and distribution
Half-life amount of time it takes for half of a substance to be broken down in the body and excreted
Immunity Bodys ability to fight off infections from bacteria and viruses
Indication Use of the drug for treating a particular disease
Local small area or single part of the body
Metabolism physical and chemical processes of the body that convert food into energy
Pathogen Microorganism (bacteria, virus) that casuses disease
Pharmacology Study of drugs and their effects in the body
Side effects predicted, unwanted reactions to a substance
Systemic the whole body
Tolerance condition where the body has become unresponsive to a substance after prolonged exposure
