Admixture Mixing 2 or more substances
Aerosol Gaseous substance consisting of liquid or solid particles
Capsule Solid; made of gelatin, holds solid or liquid particles
Chewable tablet Chewed instead of being swallowed
Compound Combination of 2 or more substances
Cream Semisolid; applied externally to soothe, lubricate or protect
Effervescent tablet Dissolved into liquid before administration
Elixir Liquid; flavored water and alcohol mixtures
Emulsion Liquid; Mix of 2 products that normally DON'T mix together
Inactive ingredients Remaining ingredients found in a drug; used to flavor, digest, color and bind the whole substance
Liniment Applied to the skin with friction; can be Solutions, Suspensions, or Emulsions
Lotion Powdered substance in a suspension, externally applied to soothe, cool, dry, and protect
Ointment Semisolid; applied externally to deliver medication, lubricate, and protect
Patch Solid; applied to skin and absorbed into bloodstream
Solution Completely liquid
Suppository Solid; administration through vagina or rectum
Suspension Liquid; Solid particles, not completely dissolved
Syrup Liquid; water and sugar mixed with medication
Tablet Solid; ingredients compacted to small, formed shapes
