Seizure Notes

QuestionAnswer
What is a seizure disorder? Symptoms of an abnormality in the nerve centers of the brain.
What is a generalized seizure? A seizure affecting both brain hemispheres.
What is a partial seizure? A seizure beginning in one hemisphere of the brain.
What are the types of generalized convulsive seizures? Tonic-clonic (grand mal), atonic or akinetic, myoclonic
What are the types of generalized nonconvulsive seizures? Absence (petit mal), partial(localized)
What is Status epilepticus? A medical emergency.
