Ipratropium Bromide.
Ipratropium Bromide(atrovent)

| Mechanism of action | Inhibits interaction of acetylcholine at receptor sites on bronchial smooth muscle, thereby allowing bronchodilation |
| Indications | 1. bronchospasms due to COPD, allergic reaction and asthma refractory to other Beta2 agonists |
| Contraindications: | 1. Hypersensitivity to atropine, soybean or peanut products |
| Side Effects: | Cardiovascular: palpitations Other: dry mouth |
| Routes of Administration: | HHN |
| Onset and Duration of Actions: | Onset in 15 minutes with peak effect at 1-2 hours, and may last 3-4 hours |
| Dosages: | Adult: 0.5 mg mixed with 2.5 mg Albuterol via HHN Pediatric: 0.5 mg mixed with 5.0 mg Albuterol via HHN and then administer only half of the volume |
