general indications for modalities

Inflammation and Repair: Modalities can alter circulation, chemical reactions, flow of body fluids, and cell function throughout all phases of healing.
Inflammation and Repair: Modalities enhance and accelerate the healing process and reduce the risk of adverse effects associated with inflammation.
Pain: Modalities can control pain by altering the cause of the pain or altering the process of pain perception.
Restriction in Motion: Thermal agents are used to enhance extensibility of collagen to allow for greater range of motion and tolerance to stretch.
Abnormal Tone: Modalities can influence tonal abnormalities from pain, musculoskeletal or neurological pathology.
Abnormal Tone: Alteration in nerve conduction, reduction of pain, and change in muscle biomechanical properties can normalize tone and enhance functional outcome.
