What is energy? the ability to do work or cause change
How is work done? when a force moves an object through a distance
What is force? a push or pull
What is kinetic energy? energy of motion
What is potential energy? energy that is stored and held in readiness
What is elastic potential energy? potential energy associated with objects that can be stretched or compressed
What is gravitational potential energy? potential energy that depends on height
What is mechanical energy? energy associated with the motion or position of an object
What is themal energy? energy of the particles of an object, associated with heat
What is chemical energy? potential energy stores in chemcial bonds that hold chemical compounds together
What is electrical energy? energy that carries electric charge
What is electromagnetic energy? energy that travels in waves
What is nuclear energy? potential energy that is soted in the nucleus of an atom and released during nuclear reactions
What is energy conversion? a change from one form or energy to another
What is the law of conservation of energy? states that when one form of enrgy is converted to another, no energy is destroyed in the process.
A leaping frog in the air is an example of which form of energy? mechanical energy
The melting of ice cream is an example of which form of energy? thermal energy
Food is an example of which form of energy? chemical energy
Batteries are an example of which form of energy? electrical energy
Visible light is an example of which form of energy? electromagnetic energy
The stars (sun) are examples of which form of energy? nuclear energy
