Active Ingredient is the chemical found in the medication known or believed to have a therapeutic effect.
Admixture is a substance produced by mixing two or more substances.
Aerosol is a medication dosage that contains a gaseous substance consisting of fine liquid or solid particles.
Capsule is a solid dosage form of a medication usually made of gelatin,which holds fine particles of a solid or liquid particle.
Chewable Tablet tablets are chewed instead of swallowed whole.
Compound Refers to substances made from a combination of two r more substances.
Cream is a dosage form of a medication that is semisolid preparation, usually applied externally to soothe, lubricate, or protect.
Effervescent Tablet is a tablet that is dissolved into a liquid before administration
Elixir is a liquid dosage form that contains flavored water and alcohol mixtures.
Emulsion is a liqiud dosage form of a mixture of two products that normally do not mix together.
Inactive Ingredients Are the remaning ingredients, other than the active ingredients,that are found in a drug; used to flavor, digest,color,and bind the whole substance.
Liniment Are medications that are applied to the skin with friction and running.Lininments can be solutions, suspensions, or emulsions.
Lotion is a liquid dosage form that contains a powdered substance in a suspension,used externally to soothe,cool,dry, and protect.
Ointment is a semisolid(mixture of a liquid) dosage form that is applied externally to deliver the medication,lubricate, and protect.
Patch is a dosage form in which the medication is delivered through a solid application applied to the skin and absorbed into the bloodstream.
Solution is a liquid dosage form in which the medicatin is completely dissolved in a liquid.
Suppository Denotes the administration through the vagina or rectum of a solid medication.
Suspension is a liquid dosage form in which the solid particles are n ot completely dissolved.
Syrup is a liquid form that consists of water and sugar mixed with the medication.
tablet is a solid dosage form in which the ingredients are comacted into a small,formed shapes.
