What is motion? the state in which one objects distance from another object is changing
how do you know something is in motion? if an object changes its position relative to you (or some other reference point) then it is moving relative to you.
how do you describe motion? motion is the movement away or toward an object.
motion involves changing a distance to a...? non-moving reference point
what is a reference point? a place or object used for comparison to determine if an object is in motion.
in SI units distance is measured in: meters, centimeters, millimeters, kilometers
what are the metric conversions? 1000m = 1km 100cm = 1m 1000mm = 1m
how do you calculate speed? speed= distance/time
if the speed = 45meters/15sec what is your final answer? 45 divided by 15= 3 m/sec
what is velocity? the speed and direction of movement
when measuring velocity you must...? include a direction such as east, west, south, or north (EX.- 7.6 M/SEC WESTWARD)
