buccal tablet a tablet dissolved in the lining of the cheek instead of being swallowed whole.
enema process by which a medicated fluid is injected into the rectum, or an aqueous solutions administeredrectally to empty the bowel, to treat infections and diseases of the lower gastrointestinal tract.
infusion is the process of a slow injection of solution or emulsion into a vein or subqutaneous tissue.
inhalation the administration of a medication directly into the lungs by the mouth or nose.
intrarticular the route of administration refers to the method of injecting medications directly into the joints.
intracardiac route of administration is used to deliver medications directly into the heart.
intradermal the administration of a medication by injection into the skin.
intramusclular the administration of medication within or into a muscle.
intranasal medications administered through being inhaled through the nose abd then being absorbed through the bloodstream.
intrathecal administration of medications into the space surrounding the spinal cord.
intravenous the adm of med within or into the veins.
opthalmic the adm of med through the eye.
oral the adm of med through the mouth.
otic the adm of med into the ear.
parenteral the adm of med by any other route than oral: adm by injection.
rectally the adm of a solid or liquid med given through the rectum. (most are topical)
subcutaneous the adm of med given under the skin.
sublingual tablet a tablet that is dissolved under the tongue instead of being swallowed whole.
topical a substance used externally for relief of swelling, itching, or infections.
transdermal adm of med through the skin (patches).
vaginally adm of a solid or liquid medication through the vagina.
