Matter Unit Test

What is Matter? Anything that has a mass and takes up space.
What is Mass? What measures the amount od matter in an object.
What is Mixture? Two or more substances that are mixed unevenly, but can be seperated because they ARE NOT chemicaly combined.
What is Compound? Two or more substances that are mixed together evenly, but they can't be seperated because they ARE chemicaly combined.
What is Solution Two or more substances that are mixed together evenly, but they can be seperated because they ARE NOT chemicaly combined.
What is Solute What is contained in an object. (Water is in the cup)
What is Solvent? What goes in what is contained in and object. ( surgar is put in water, water is in a cup)
What is Density? The mass in a certain amount of space.
What is Volume? The space an object takes up.
What is a Physical Change? A chane that in some properties of matter without forming a different matter.
What is a Chemical Change? A change in matter, so that it's a different kind of matter with different physical properties.
What is a Solid? When molecules are very close together and vibrate but do not move. Has definite shape and volume.
What is a Liquid? When Moleculesare spread out and are free to move around. There is NO definite shape, but there is definite volume.
What is a Gas? When molecules are very far apart and may move very quickly(may bump into each other)No definite shape of volume
What is Evaporation? When a liquid becomes a gas
What is Condensation? When a gas becomes a liquid.
