Some Words about the periodic table

| Element | A pure substance that cannot be broken down chemically or physically. |
| Compound | A substance that can be broken down chemically and is made up of 2 or more elements. |
| Mixture | A substance made up of 2 or more substances that keep thier orginal identities. |
| atom | The smallest particle that all things are made up of and cannot be broken down any smaller. |
| proton | the positivly charged particle in an atom,found in the neucleus |
| electron | negativly charged particle in an atom, located outside the necleus |
| neutron | the particle in the neucleus of the atom with no charge. |
| periodic | having a regular repeating pattern |
| perodic law | chemical and physical properties of an atom go along with thier atomic number. |
| atomic number | the number of protons in an atom. |
| atomic mass | the combined number of protons and neutrons |
| isotope | an atom of the same element with the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons |
| valence electron | electrons in the outer orbital |
