| Tranquilizer | a medication that reduces anxiety and tension without affecting mental clarity/ calming affect. |
| Thrombus | a blood clot that forms in a blood vessel and remains at the site of formation |
| Vasocongestion | excessive filling of the blood vessels of a tisue or organ/ tissue swelling |
| Polypharmacy | the administration of multiple drugs at the same time |
| Pain threshold | point where you feel pain |
| Peak | highest concentration of a drug |
| Through | lowest concentration of a drug |
| Hallucination | the perception of somebody or something that is not really there |
| Endorphin | natural pain relievers |
| Auralgia | ear pain |
| Acid | a sour tasting compound that releases hydrogen ions. Ph 1-7 |
| Base | the part of an organ or body part by which it is attached to a more central structure of an organism Ph 7-14 |
| Aqueous | containing, dissolved in, or consisting mostly of water |
| Antagonist | blocks a reaction |
| Homeostasis | a state balance |
| Histamine | a natural substance produced by the body when it is fighting an infection or a poison or an allergy |
| Isotonic | same particles inside the cell as outside the cell |
| Metabolism | the series of processes by which food is converted into the energy and products needed to sustain life. |
| Nutrient | a substance that provides nourishment to the body |
| Paresthesia | an unusual or unexplained tingling, pricking, or burning sensation on the skin |
