Placental Mammal Reproductive Systems

QuestionAnswer
Fallopian tube (2) F- a path from an ovary to the uterus. Cilia, hair like structures in the fallopian tube gently sweep the egg toward uterus. [eggs don't self propel]
Scrotum M- holds the testes(2) outside of the body at a lower temperature for sperm production
Prostate M- regulates whether semen or urine goes through the urethraand out of the body
Penis M- contains a pathway for semen or urine to leave the body
Vagina F- passageway between uterus & outside of the body. Also called birth canal. Where sperm enters, where menstrual flow and baby exit.
Urethra M- passageay from prostate through and out of body; semen or urine travel through it.
Testes (2) M- produce male sex cell, sperm
Seminal Vesicle M- produces and adds liquid to the sperm to: 1) help sperm swim 2) power the sperm (contains small amount of sugar to fuel the sperm) Liquid+Sperm=semen
Vas Deferens M- tube connecting the testes & the prostate, sperm travel through it
Uterus F- where fertilized egg develops
Ovary (2) F- place where all female's eggs are stored (female's are born with all their eggs) Eggs mature and are released from an ovary. (about once a month in humans) Human ovaries take turn releasing egg.
