Anxiety disorders abnormal/ irrational rxn to stressful situations that impair normal ADL's
Generalized Anxiety excessive worry about certain situations for 6+ months, leads to other disorders
Panic Disorder is it's own class, an unprovoked anxiety attacks and involve intense fear
Phobia irrational fears of a certain object/ activity/ or situation
Social Phobias fears of situcations that often provide scrutiny from other ( public speaking)
Specific phobias fears of certain object or situation (heights/ close spaces)
OCD most disbabling, responseds to treatment
Obsessions undesired thoughts that are both time consuming and irrational
Compulsions repeated action/ behavior that is preformed to decrease the anxiety associated with the obsession
Major depressive disorders occur commonly in the panic disorder victims
Phobias lead to what exaggerated avoidance, and is a common treatment
