The Types Of Joint Movements

The type of joint movement where the joint angle is decreasing. Flexion
The type of joint movement where the joint angle is increasing. Extension
The type of joint movement where the body part is moving away from the midline of the body. Abduction
The type of joint movement where the body part is moving towards from the midline of the body. Adduction
Usually through rolling your ankle, what type of movement occurs. Inversion
What type of movement occurs when a bone turns on its own axis within a joint? Rotation
When a bone turns on its own axis towards the midline, what type of movement has occurred? Medial Rotation
When a bone turns on its own axis away from the midline, what type of movement has occurred Lateral Rotation
What movement occurs when a limb moves in a circular fashion and generally only happens with a ball and socket joint? Circumduction
When the radius and the ulna are crossed over eachother what type of movement has occurred? Pronation
When the radius and the ulna are lying parallel to each other, what type of movement has occurred? Supination
Palms down. Pronation
Palms up, soup please? Supination
What type of movement occurs when the toes are pointed downwards and the heel is raised? Plantarflexion
What type of movement occurs when the toes are pointed upwards and generally higher than the heel? Dorsiflexion
When the sole of the foot is turned inwards towards the midline what movement has occurred? Inversion
When the sole of the foot is turned outwards away the midline what movement has occurred? Eversion
