Geyser Natural hot spring that occassionaly sprays water and steam above the ground
Glacier Slowly moving river of ice
Gulf Part of the ocean or sea that is partly surrounded by land; larger than a bay
Hill Raised area or mound of land
Island Piece of land that is surrounded by water
Isthmus Narrow strip of land connecting two larger landmasses, has water on two sides
Lagoon Shallow body of water that is located alongside a coast
Lake Large body of water suroounded by land on all sides
Latitude Angular distance North or South from equator to particular location
Longitude Angular distance East or West from the North-South line that passes through Greenwich, Eng to a particular location
Marsh Type of freshwater, brackish water or salwater wetland that is found along rivers, ponds, lakes and coasts. Plants grow up out of the water
Mesa Land formation iwth a flat area on top and steep walls - usually occurring in dry areas
Mountain Very tall, high natural place on Earth; higher than a hill
Ocean Large body of salt water that surrounds the continents
Peninsula Body of land that is surrounded by water on three sides
River Large, flowing body of water that usually empties into a sea or ocean
Plateau Large, flat area of land that is higher than the surrounding land
Plain Flat lands that have only small changes in elevation
Pond Small body of water surrounded by land
Prairie Wide, relatively flat area of land that has grasses and only a few trees
Sea Large body of salt water that is often connected to an ocean, by be partially or completely surrounded by land
Sound Wide inlet of the sea or ocean that is parallel to the coastline; it often separates a coastline from a nearby island
Strait Narrow body of water that connects two larger bodies of water
Swamp Type of freshwater wetland that has spongy, muddly land and a lot of water; many trees and shurbs grow up here
Tributary Stream or river that flows into a large river
Wetland Area of land that is often wet; the soils are often low in oxygen
