Sciencer terms for studing

QuestionAnswer
Motion that goes from one place to another with out repeating. Linear Motion
Motion that repeats in cycles. Harmonic Motion
A unit of motion that repeats. Cycle
A device that swings back and forth due to the force of Gravity. Pendulum
A phycical system that has repeating cycles. Oscillator
Any force that always acts to pull a system back toward equilibrium. Restoring Forces
The time it takes for each complete cycle. Period
How often something repeats, expressed in hertz Frequency
The unit of frequency. One hertz is one cycle per second. Hertz
The amount that a cycle moves away from equilibrium. Amplitude
The frequency at which a system oscillates when disturbed. Natural Frequency
A repetition force. Periodic Force
An exceptionally large amplitude that developes when a periodic force is applied at the natural frquency. Resonance
A traveling oscillation that has properties frquency, wavelengh, and amplitude. Wave
A distance from any point on a wave to the same point on the next cycle of the waves. Wavelength
A wave that has oscillation that ARE NOT in the direction it moves. Transverse
A wave that has oscillation that are in the direction it moves. Longitudinal Wave
The waves bend around an object or through holes in an object. Diffraction
The process of bouncing off a surface.(Hint: Mirror) Reflection
The wave bends as it passes into and through an object. Refraction
The wave is absorbed and disappears. Absorption
A form of energy that travels at 300,000km/s(186,000 mi/s) and includes all the colors that can be seen by the human eye. Light
Light containing an equal mix of all colors. White Light
The sensation created by the different energies of light falling on your eye. Color
The smallest possible amount of light. Photon
A wave of electricity and magnetism that travels at the speed of light. Electronmagnetic Wave
The entire range of Electromagnetic waves including all possible frequencies. Electromagnetic Spectrum
