QuestionAnswer
CREST and TROUGH The points of a transverse wave that are farthest from the medium.
AMPLITUDE The MAXIMUM distance the particles of the medium carrying the wave move away from their rest positions.
AMPLITUDE OF TRANSVERSE WAVES The MAXIMUM distance the medium moves UP OR DOWN from its rest position.
AMPLITUDE OF LONGITUDINAL WAVES A measure of how COMPRESSED the medium becomes.
WAVELENGTH The distance between two corresponding parts of a wave.
WAVELENGTH OF A TRANSVERSE WAVE The distance from crest to crest.
WAVELENGTH OF A LONGITUDINAL WAVE The distance from compression to compression
FREQUENCY (Hz) The number of complete waves that pass a given point in a certain amount of time.
SPEED How far a wave travels in one unit of time, or distance / time.
