Panax ginsing for hot flashes Estrogenic effects are controversal, caution they stimulated cancer cells, but have a mood enhancement component
PMS symptoms treatments Calcium, chasteberry, Vitamins and Minerals (B6, Mg, Mb, Vit E)
Calcium for PMS Likely to be effective 1-1.2 G QD assists with depressed mood, water retention, and pain
Chasteberry for PMS Mastalgia (breat pain) edema, constipation, irritability, depressed mood, HA. Some suggest low progesterone and high estrogen response better
Vitamins and Minerals Mg (migrane treatment), Mn +Ca, B6 (mood anxiety) Vit E (decrease anxiety- Max 100 IU)
Morning Sickness Ginger, Pyidoxine (B6)
Ginger for morning sickness Suggests eating it in food or tea, german commission contraindicated in pregancy due to lack of studies
Pyriodixine for morning sickeness Only works on sever N/V 25mg Q8hrs
BPH treatments Saw Palmetto, nettles, pumpkin seeds, Pygeum
Saw palmetto as BPH treatment Considered a 5 alpha reductase inhibitor therefore decrease of DHT. 160mg BID standardized to 85-95% FA + steroid is the Key. Showed an increase in urinary frequency, and flow Caution in olfer men thought to mask prostrate cancer!
Erectile dysfunction Nothing works well: yohimbine, Panax ginsing, L-arginine, DHEA
Soy interacts with warfarin (decrease INR) and Tamoxifen (antagonize tumors)
Red clover interacts with antiplatelets (increase bleeding) and anti-diabetics (decrease glucose)
Flaxseed interacts with Antiplatelets (increase bleeding), Warfarin (decrease INR), anti-diabetics (decrease glucose)
Black cohosh interacts with Doxatexel (increase), Doxorubicin (increase) and antesthesia (hypotension)
Dong Quai interacts with Warfarin (increase INR), antibplatelets (increase bleeding risk)
Evening primrose interacts with anethesia (seizures) and antiplatelets (increase bleeding)
