Laws of Fluids
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Blaise Pascal | Proposed idea that an external pressure is transferred uniformly throughout a fluid |
| Pascal's principle | The pressure applied to any surface of a confined fluid is transmitted equally in every direction throughout a fluid |
| Hydraulic press | One of the most important applications of pascal's principle |
| measuring force | Pressure x Area |
| Boyle's law | If the temperature of a gas remains constant, its volume and pressure are inversely related (more pressure, less volume) |
| Jacques Charles | Discovered relationship between volume and temperature of gas |
| Charles's law | If the pressure of a gas is constant, its volume and temperature are directly related (more pressure, more volume) |
| Absolute zero | The point it which molecules have no heat and energy. Approx. -459.67 F |
| Kelvin | The scale of absolute temperature, starts at absolute zero |
