Electrolysis the use of electricity to break down a molecule into smaller units.
Experimental Error error that may occur during an experiment due to variables other than those being tested.

Chemical bond a link between two atoms resulting from either the sharing of electrons or the transfer of electrons.
polar molecule a molecule that has slight positive and negative charges due to unequal sharing if electrons
Solvent a substance that is capable of dissolving other substances.
solute a substance that is dissolved in a solvent.
Solution one substance dissolved in another.
non-polar a molecule in which electrons are almost equally shared between atoms(so that there is no distribution of charge)
Hydrogen bonding a weak bond between a hydrogen atom in one molecule and another atom(such as N,F,O)in another molecules.
Cohesion the phenomenon that occurs when individual molecules are so strongly attracted to each other that they tend to stay together even when exposed to tension.
Surface tension the effect of cohesion at the surface of a liquid.
xylem tubes through which water travels in a plant.
Hard water water that has certain dissolved ions in it.
