Cycloserine | weak partial agonist in NMDA system, has been effective in relieving negative symptoms in Schizophrenic patients. |
Phencyclidine | (PCP) binds to NMDA system |
Ketamine | Animal tranquilizer, binds to NMDA system |
Down Regulation | a drug blocks receptors which will say "slow down with production of NT |
Up Regulation | so much NT that the receptors increase |
baclofen | Agonist at GABA(B), Anticonvulsant, used for MS |
Bicuculine | Antagonist at the complex (GABA{A}), causes convulsions |
Gabapentin | decreases GABA release |
Hydroxynipecotic Acid | blocks transporter (GABA) and decreases reuptake |
Diazepam | (Benzodiazepine) Valium |
Chlordiazepoxide | (Benzodiazepine) Librium |
Lorazepam | (Benzodiazepine) Ativan |
Alprazolam | (Benzodiazepine) Xanax |
Methoqualone | (Ethanol) |
Chloralhydrate | (Ethanol) same # addicted to this in 1900 as there were alcoholics |
Deprenyl and Tranylcypromine | (Monoamines) originally developed as Blood Pressure medication but later turned out to treat Depression |
Yohimbine | NE-Alpha2-Adrenergic Antagonist |
Fenflouramine | (amphetamine) Breaks serotonin vesicles |
Reserpine | Antipsychotic, stops 5HT from entering vesicle |
Fluoxetine | (Prozac) blocks SERT whichs prevents serotonin reuptake |
Buspirone | (partial agonist to serotonin 1A) treats generalized anxiety |
Sumatriptin | (Partial agonist to serotonin 1D) very good migraine drug |
Atropine and Scopalomine | Muscarinic antagonists |
Curare | Nicotinic, stimulates and doesn't leave making it a blocker |
