| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Direct Observation | Things we can detect directly with our five senses. |
| Indirect Observation | Things we determine based on what we detect based on what we already know. |
| Daltin | Viewed the atom as a solid mass. |
| Thomson | Discover the e-; viewed the atom as a solid mass with e- stuck in it. |
| Rutherford | Discovered the atomic nucleus, viewed the atom with a "densly packed atomic nucleus surrounded by an electron cloud" |
| Bohr | Made the "planetary model" in which electrons orbit the nucleus. |
| Bohr Model(1913) | Model with a planetary dense nucleus composed of protons and neutrons, positively charged~surrounded by electrons(-) in orbit around the nucleus. |
| Nucleus | Center of an atom containing protons and neutrons. |
| Orbit | Concentration pathways around the nucleus traveled by one or more electrons. |
| Atomic Number | Number of protons in an atom. |
| Mass number | The sum of the number of protons and neutrons in an atom. |
| Isotopes | Atoms with the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons. |
| Element | A sample of matter composed of atoms that all have the same number of protons. |
| Schrodinger | Made the "Quantum Mechanical Model" |
| Periods | Rows across the Periodic table of Elements(numbers 1-7) |
| Groups/Families | Columns up and down the Periodic table of Elements(numbered 1-18) |
