Glacier and where are they found A massive moving ice mass that moves slowly downhill from gravity, found in high, cold areas like Norway
Ice sheet A glacier but way bigger and covers entire regions
Ice sheet vs glaciers ice sheet is a giant type of glacier that covers a huge area of land, while a glacier is a general term for any large mass of slow-moving ice on land. All ice sheets are glaciers, but not all glaciers are ice sheets
Ice age A long period of extreme cold that leads to ice sheets covering vast parts of Earth. Caused by tectonic movements , greenhouse gases and earth orbit changes
Plucking A form of glacial erosion where meltwater(melted from friction )gathers into cracks, re-freezes and is torn out by ice movement
Abrasion A form of glacial erosion caused by shear and scraping of the glacier. This leaves marks on rocks called stritations which tell us the general direction
